GOOD DEALs
Face it. Keeping a child in clothing is an expensive. And if you have a girl *or girls* they LOVE cool clothes. Whether they are into grunge style, girlie girl, or lives for
,
,
or
, one could easily go broke putting clothing on a child's back * and tush, legs and feet,
.*. Its a blessing to be able to buy inexpensive clothes, but truth be told, nothing wears as nice as well made clothing. After multiple washings, and sometimes several children, well made clothing shows itself well worth the money that is involved in the initial investment. I have passed
and
clothing onto children after Brenna has outgrown them, and the clothes are on the 3rd or 4th child and still look almost brand new! Gotta love that!
In order to afford for my child to dress in the cute, trendy clothes that she likes, we hit the local thrift stores. I LOVE thrift stores! Let me amend that, I love GOOD thrift stores. We have a couple of good thrift stores local to us that we frequent. Today was a RED BANNER day for thrift store shopping.
Today's thrift store run just about finished my winter shopping for Brenna, save a few winter dresses, which I am bet my my mother-in-law will buy her a couple, which she does every year. Look at all the goodies I got today:
Orange Limited, Too hoodie and Aeropostale tshirt.
Thirteen shirts which included 3 Limited, Too, 2 Aeropostale, a Danskin leotard, a white dress shirt from Macy's, 2 GAP shirts, 3 Old Navy shirts, and 1 shirt that was of less well known brands.
2 Dresses from Target, 3 skorts *2 from Limited, Too, one from Old Navy*, and a pair of Old Navy shorts.
Eleven pair of pants, brands included are Lee, Levi's, Limited, Too, Old Navy, *there is a black Limited, Too shirt in here too*,
9 puzzles that were from 50c to $1.50 each.
8 books for Brenna and a phone *$2 for a brand new phone*.
This is not a thrift store item, but I wanted to show this. Brenna REALLY liked this jacket when we saw it at Good's in Quarryville in Lancaster County. I bought it for her and it was only $17.
So Brenna is set for winter! The puzzles and books are not clothes of course, but they were stuff we were looking for. I needed that phone...and of course books are always needed!
The grand total for all these items, plus 4 pair of pants for Michael in a Joe Boxer style: $104 *less the $17 jacket*. 32 pieces of clothing for Brenna in name brands!
Did I mention that I LOVE THRIFT STORES!!!
Blessings...

Oh, I love thrift stores too, hubby won't go in one though. That was a great deal, I sure do miss going to them. I have been catching things at walmart on clearance for $1-3 in the little girl department. I picked up a few there but just for now type clothes. I wonder if they have "Black Friday" out here, on the other coast they would have a day I believe after thanksgiving or maybe a few nights before christmas when everything was dirt cheap. I'm getting so excited thinking about christmas. Sounds like ya had fun.
Wow,
I don't do Thrift stores very offten but with my oldest son who is 15. He is driving me crazy about the name brands of things. I can't afford to buy all those expencive things. I told hubby that we should take him to the thrift stores and let him go.
Have a wonderful and blessed day

A girl after my own thrifty heart! Great finds, Kathie!
Kathie, I did the thrift shops all the time with my son. Now that he is so big it is difficult to find things for him in the thrift shops. However, I was feeling disappointed the other day that I would not be able to do the thrift shop thing with my baby girl. I thought that the clothes would not be good enough. Thank you for proving me wrong. (Although I did get her some jeans in 2T, but that was about all I could find.) I will have to keep looking for upscale thrift shops such as the one you referred to. !shoshannah
Wow, what a great price for all of that!
*sigh* There just aren't any good thrift shops near me. Oh, well.... I am a 'clearance' gal all the way. How else can we be Proverbs 31 women? verse 18 says: She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. Let's hear it for the thrifty shoppers and night owls... You rock! I will pray that you and I do not kill our alarm clocks in the next week or so... God Bless!

THANK-YOU! I will probably take you up on the help sometime - there is lots I would like to learn. Right now could you tell me if you can see my header, it's not loading for me when I go to my site. Thanks!
I love thrift stores too...Just today I was at 4 of them! After that it's hard to pay full price for anything!

Good for you! Until March of 2003, I was a single Mom and I had to learn all the best thrift stores in the area. Living in Southern California, around many wealthy people (of which I am not) I wanted my daughter to grow up with cute clothes and shoes, etc. I know that shouldn't be a huge deal, but it is important to a girl to feel girlie and have some nice things. I cant tell you how many times I have lucked out by finding things with tags still on them, or looking so absolutely brand new that no one would know any different. My daughter is almost 13 and in 8th grade now and her friends always think she is very stylish. Thrift stores ROCK!!!
